Long story short, I attempted to replace the door lock actuator last night, it took longer than expected and it started to get dark. We hastily put the car back together so the door is operational; unfortunately we discovered that the door is stuck in the locked position after we closed it.
The lock pole (whatever it’s called, the thing that goes up and down to indicate if the door is locked or not) won’t budge. It’s physically stuck in its current position.
Is there any want I can fix this, or do I need to take it to a dealer.

You may be able to peel back the water barrier and manually pop the rod/cable connection on the latch to unlock and open the door (and give yourself a bit of room to figure out whats going on).
Most newer vehicles automatically unlock when the inside handle is pulled, did the child lock lever get flipped inadvertently when replacing the actuator?

I don’t think so. My grandpa played with getting the rod off, I think that might of did it.

pull the water barrier back and look around. Probably something binding it up and not allowing it to unlock. Retrace your steps and take your time. Rushing never ends well in car maintenance.

It's why I plan on finishing tomorrow, I'll have a calmer mind and more time.

You can make one with a piece of lumber strapping (thin flexible metal) and a pair of tin snips. My dad used to carry one he made that way, because he had a couple employees with a bad habit of locking their keys in their car.

Most convenience stores have them, but I’m not sure how a greasy, shelf stable sausage product will help you here.
